Friends for ever

What does Friendship Mean?

What is friendship? What is the meaning of this relationship? We have often sought answers to these questions, yet we have never come up with an adequate answer. This is because this relationship is an amalgamation of beautiful and complex feelings, which may not often be described in words. Defining a relationship is never easy, as there are so many facets to it. However we don't need a bunch of words to make us realize the deep meaning of friendship.
According to George Elliot "Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words
This heartwarming expression captures the essence of friendship. When two people share a strong bond of mutual understanding, respect and love it lays the foundation stone for an everlasting friendship. This bond just gets stronger with time; the trust between the two people grows and so does the attachment.
This is the beauty of the relationship and is the essential meaning of friendship.Being friends means being there for each other at all times, whether it's good or bad. A friend needs to be very understanding and give each other the benefit of the doubt. Ideally the meaning of friendship is sharing unconditional love for each other. However this is not an ideal world; therefore some form of expectations are allowed, but that has a limit too. The purpose and meaning of friendship is to make life's burdens lighter for our friends and not make them heavier. The Roman thinker Cicero said "Friendship makes prosperity brighter, while it lightens adversity by sharing its griefs and anxieties."
Searching for the meaning of friendship has always been a burning question. However as soon as we meet our friends all these questions get answered automatically. The answer to what is the meaning of friendship lies within our hearts, because true friendship can only be felt, and not expressed. Something so pure and essential is not always visible to the eye, but is felt by the heart.

True Friends

Two may talk together under the same roof for many years, yet never really meet; and two others at first speech are old friends"
~ Mary Catherwood ~
We all have a lot of friends, but do we have that true blue friend? Do we have a friend to whom we can say anything to, whether it always makes sense or not? True friendship is something very special. The ones who are fortunate enough to have a true friend know how spectacular it is. When we were children we used to write essays describing our true friends
The descriptions were mostly of the person sitting beside us or someone who gave us a tempting chocolate on that day! However as we have grown up we have seen the meaning of friendship change and develop before our eyes. If we were to describe a true friend now, it would probably be someone who we think of as our best friend.

Friends Forever

In the walk of life you will find several people. Some are there with you only for a momentary phase while other walk the path of life with you for a considerable distance. Friends come and go. But it requires true courage and spirit to be friends forever and to walk the journey of life till the end. As a Jewish saying goes- "Who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure". But it is not easy to find this treasure. Only very fortunate ones succeed in achieving it; once it is found try your best not to loose it. An anonymous author very aptly described friends forever as- "Some people come into our lives and quickly go
If you feel a pain in your heart when you see a tear in your friend's eye, if your friend is more happy than you to see you successful, then you must understand that you have found a friend forever. A true friend is someone with whom you do not have to make an effort to share your thoughts. The mental harmony between true friends comes naturally. If effort is at all required then it is not true friendship. People might claim to be your true friends. Declarations are easy to make. But it's only the person who is your friend forever, who will stand with you through the thick and the thin
